Steering operating principle
The power Steering System consists of a steering oil tank 1, a steering oil pump 2, a steering pipeline 3, and a power steering gear 4. During the operation of the steering system, the steering oil pump operates continuously with the engine rotation, sucking oil from the oil tank and supplying oil to the power steering gear control valve. When there is no steering action, the control valve is in the normally open middle position, and the oil directly returns to the steering oil tank through the control valve.

Failure Diagnosis & Trouble Shooting
When the entire vehicle has a heavy steering and no power failure, the following points should be conducted to identify the failure:
• Whether the fluid is contaminated - if it is contaminated, open the relief valve plug on the pump assembly, remove the relief valve for cleaning, and replace the fluid inside the steering system.
• Check whether fluid in tank is sufficient - if not, add fluid.
• Whether the fluid flowing smoothly in the connecting hose - If it’s blocked, clear it.
If the failure still exist after the above measures, replace the Steering Pump.
If there is abnormal sound when steering, fault identification should be conducted from the following points:
• Whether the fluid flowing smoothly in the connecting hose - If it’s blocked, clear it.
• Whether there is any air bubble in the tank – If there is, remove the air inside the pump and steering system.
If the failure still exist after the above measures, replace the steering pump.
When there is oil on the steering pump surface, following points should be checked for failure identification:
• Check whether there is looseness at the connection hose to the pump - if any, tight it.
• Check whether tank is damaged - if it is damaged, replace the tank.
• Check whether the gasket on the mounting surface where the pump and engine train connections is damaged - if damaged, replace the gasket.
If the failure still exist after the above measures, replace the steering pump.
