Electric power steering (EPS) motor
Compared to traditional steering systems, electric power steering systems bring many advantages, reflected in greater system efficiency and driver comfort. It is gratifying to note that in some applications, fuel consumption has been reduced by 6%, equivalent to a reduction of approximately 8 grams of carbon dioxide emissions per kilometer. Extremely low cogging torque, low noise, and high power density are the main advantages of Mahler EPS motors. To ensure functional safety, we provide additional options such as dual winding stators.

The basic principle of EPS is that the torque sensor is connected to the steering shaft. When the steering shaft operates, the torque sensor begins to work, converting the year-on-year angular displacement of the input shaft and output shaft under the action of the torsion bar into electrical signals, which are transmitted to the ECU. The electronic control unit determines the rotational direction of the motor and the magnitude of the assist current based on the signals from the vehicle speed sensor and the torque sensor, thereby enabling real-time adjustment of the assist steering.
