Flow characteristics of the Power Steering Pump
Generally, the flow rate of a Steering Pump increases with the increase of the pump's operating speed, requiring a linear increase below the starting speed of the oil pump, while the flow rate does not significantly increase above the starting speed. This is because vehicles with a power steering gear hope that when driving at normal speeds, the operating flow of the system is stable and does not change with changes in the engine. It is not expected that the flow rate of the oil pump will increase as the engine speed increases, resulting in excessively sensitive steering, resulting in a floating steering wheel. For cars with high vehicle speeds, there is a requirement that the flow rate decrease moderately as the pump speed increases, in order to increase the steering feel and improve the safety of high-speed driving.
