MAINTENANCE TIPS

1. Working temperature: Steering Pump can work at -40 ~ 120 ℃, but working at high temperature for a long time will reduce the service life of the steering system. It is recommended to take cooling measures at the outlet pipeline of the steering pump. Generally, the outlet pipeline of steering pump for passenger car will passby the front of engine to achieve the purpose of cooling.

2. System cleanliness: steering gear and steering pump are precision hydraulic components. The cleanliness of the system and fluid directly affects the service life of the steering system. It takes a large proportion for the failure of stuck valves, abnormal wear of internal components due to poor cleanliness at the early stage.

3. Duration of steering to lock: less than 10s. In emergent case, correct operation should be: return the steering wheel and steer to lock again.

4. Fluid: It is recommended to use ATF-3 automatic transmission fluid or 8# hydraulic transmission fluid. The fluid in the steering system must be replaced after the 10,000-20,000 km run-in period for new vehicle, and it is recommended to replace it every 50,000 km to ensure the cleanliness of the fluid.

5. The components removed from the pump should be placed on a clean platform or tray. Do not place it in a random manner to prevent parts from bumping or being contaminated and affect the cleanliness of components.

6. All disassembled components must be cleaned before re-assembled to ensure cleanliness after assembling.

7. When disassembling the pump, pay attention to the stator assembling direction to prevent the stator from being installed in reverse, which may lead to no flow output (the side with identification marking should face pump front side).

8. The cartridge (stator, rotor, vanes) must be replaced in sets to ensure that the component clearances are properly matched.

9. Re-assembled pump needs to be tested for performance and can be used only after it is qualified.

10. When filling fluid to the tank, air bubbles will be generated in the tank. Turn the steering wheel lightly, repeat the action until air in the steering system is completely discharged and fill up the fluid.
