Custom Power Steering Pump

Custom Power Steering Pump

The power steering pump, as the power source for car steering, is the "heart" of the steering system. In developed countries, the installation rate of power steering in both large and small vehicles has approached 100%. Currently, many domestic car models have begun to adopt power steering. Therefore, in the process of promoting and using steering pumps, it is necessary to understand and master their performance and principles to achieve correct use and maintenance.

What is a power steering pump?
The power steering pump, as the power source for vehicle steering, is the "heart" of the steering system. Poor Steering Wheel Alignment
      1. Fault Symptoms. After the vehicle completes steering, when the driver releases the steering wheel, it cannot automatically return to the neutral driving position (straight driving position), or the centering is not smooth.
      2. Fault Causes. Air infiltration in the same hydraulic path; deformation or blockage of the return oil pipe; steering control valve or power cylinder piston stuck; poor centering of the steering control valve; improper adjustment of the steering gear rack top block; bending or deformation of the steering gear rack; overly tight connection of the steering transmission mechanism; incorrect wheel alignment.
      3. Fault Diagnosis.
      (a) Perform venting operations on the hydraulic system, and after venting, add sufficient steering fluid as required.
      (b) Check the ball joint pins at each connection of the steering transmission mechanism. If they are too tight, it indicates that the cause of the fault is here. Adjust them to ensure they move smoothly; if normal, proceed to the next test.
      (c) Check the rotation of the steering gear rack mechanism at the wheel alignment position and other positions of the wheel. If the torque is too large, the cause of the fault is here. Check for bending of the frame and adjustment of the frame top block; if normal, proceed to the next test.
      (d) Check if the steering control valve is stuck and if the valve is poorly centered; if normal, proceed to the next test.
If necessary, adjust the clamping force of the rack top block or replace the steering gear rack. If there is a problem, the cause of the fault is here, and the steering control device should be replaced.
      (e) Disassemble and inspect the power cylinder, replacing damaged parts. At this point, if the old steering wheel fault has not been eliminated, check and adjust the front wheel alignment.
